My Mission for the Perinatal Mama

After seeing patients for a couple of years, I have noticed there’s a rather large gap in information provided to expecting mamas regardless of it being either their first or fourth pregnancy. Everyone is quick to tell you the negatives when it comes to creating and birthing a baby, but there’s rarely any time spent on just how innate this whole process is.  The only other time the human body changes so drastically in such a short amount of time is in the first year of life! Read that again. Isn’t that wild? And it’s entirely glossed over. What’s typically highlighted is the fear of how that the warm bundle of joy in your belly does eventually have to exit, and just how much pain you will experience in the process. And while discomfort is certainly a part of birth, little is ever said about how the body was designed to produce children, and there are pain mediators that the body creates to get through birth.

Let’s start focusing on what's within your control during pregnancy and birth. A positive mindset will take you very far in life...and in birth! I aim to provide you with the resources you need to educate yourself about what your body is going through so that you feel empowered at every birth provider appointment and know what questions to ask.  Labor is hard work. Like running a marathon, except you don’t know any race details. We can work together to find the best way for you to train for the endurance and strength needed as well as pain management strategies to use during active labor! You can do this; you were built for it!

I’m sure you’ve noticed aches along the way that many like to categorize as the “right of passage” into motherhood. Forget that! You don’t have to go through your entire pregnancy with an achy low back, carpal tunnel, and/or tight shoulders. You also don't have to live with leaking while coughing, sneezing, or laughing following childbirth like so many women are told. Leaking of any kind is not normal, and you are completely capable of healing your pelvic floor regardless of how far removed you are from birth.

I am here to help in whatever way best meets your needs!
